Can a Samsung Galaxy be used as a travel camera?

We spent last weekend in Belgium,travelling from the UK over to France on the Eurotunnel. Apart from the 3am alarm call on saturday morning our two day break was exactly what we needed,a bit of bike riding,walking on the prom,having some great food and drink and a bit of shopping.

Being a dedicated film user and lover of lo-fi cameras aswell as a DSLR user i am rather suprised to admit that my new travel camera of choice is a Samsung Galaxy mobile phone combined with a couple of Andriod apps that can be downloaded free of charge. The first app is Camera Effects that has the ability of converting your images with a selection of post production effects (see slideshow) that include lomo,holga,magic,cross processed along with a couple of others that i have found to be a bit less useful.
